Vice President Biden spoke Monday night at a Philadelphia campaign fund-raising event for his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, who was home recovering from a mild stroke suffered two weeks ago.

The vice president told about 100 people at the event in the Water Works Restaurant & Lounge that Beau is doing well.

"They will not let him go back to work, but he called me at 8 o'clock this morning and said, 'Dad, your first event's not until 10, can we go to the driving range?' " the vice president said. "So we were out at the driving range pounding golf balls in the mist this morning."

Beau Biden is running for reelection this fall, having passed up a chance to run for the Senate seat his father held for more than three decades. His office is prosecuting a Lewes doctor on hundreds of counts of child sexual abuse.

"Beau is a man of absolute honor and integrity," the vice president said. "He had a job to finish and he is intent on finishing the job." - Thomas Fitzgerald
