Police have identified a Morris County man who drowned when a canoe he was in capsized in a Burlington County lake over the weekend.

Medford police say Jeremy Chan, 23, of Mountain Lakes, and another man were in the craft when the accident occurred about 2 a.m. Saturday.

The other man swam to shore and then went to a nearby house, where he alerted friends. They called police and then went to the lake to search for Chan.

A state police helicopter later spotted Chan's body, and a Medford Fire Department dive team recovered it about 3:20 a.m. It is not known why the craft capsized. - AP
