Two convenience stores robbed; clerk shot in leg

A 74-year-old store clerk was shot in the leg during one of two similar armed robberies of suburban Turkey Hill stores early Tuesday.

A 74-year-old store clerk was shot in the leg during one of two similar armed robberies of suburban Turkey Hill stores early Tuesday.

The stickups happened at 2:40 a.m. at 1000 W. Kings Highway in Coatesville, and at 4:40 a.m. at 3051 E. High St. in Lower Pottsgrove, according to Montgomery County prosecutors.

In the Lower Pottsgrove robbery, the clerk was shot twice in his leg before the attackers fled. Customers later found the clerk and called 911, and he was airlifted to Reading Hospital and Medical Center for surgery.

Investigators are seeking two men in the robberies and ask anyone with information to call Lower Pottsgrove Township police at 610-326-1508. - Derrick Nunnally
