A power outage in Center City affected 800 customers Thursday evening and forced the cancellation of two theater performances, officials said.
A problem with an underground cable at 20th and Sansom Streets cut power to about 800 customers shortly before 6 p.m., Peco Energy spokesman Ben Armstrong said. About 135 were still affected at 9:40.
Around 8:15, the InterAct Theater Company told its audience, mostly standing outside its space at the Adrienne Theatre at 2030 Samson St., that Black Pearl Sings! would not be performed.
A few minutes later, the Amaryllis Theater Company, also at the Adrienne, canceled its performance of I Am My Own Wife, which was to play on another stage in the building. Both plays had opened Wednesday night. - Inquirer staff
