An 1869 Chester County bridge - the only known surviving example of Thomas William Moseley's Wrought-Iron Lattice Girder Bridge - will be closed from June 21 until mid-October for rehabilitation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said in a news release.

An 1869 Chester County bridge - the only known surviving example of Thomas William Moseley's Wrought-Iron Lattice Girder Bridge - will be closed from June 21 until mid-October for rehabilitation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Crews will work to preserve the Hares Hill Road Bridge over French Creek in East Pikeland Township, increasing its durability without harming its historical integrity, the release said. Replacement and reinforcement work will result in an increase of the bridge's seven-ton weight limit to 15 tons, and a four-foot wide bicycle lane will be added.

Approximately 4,000 vehicles travel on the bridge daily, PennDot said. - Kathleen Brady Shea
