Seven people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a fire broke out in a six-story condominium building at 80 W. Baltimore Ave. in Lansdowne Sunday.

Police received a call at 3:49 p.m. when a fire alarm went off at the Wildman Arms Condominiums. They arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the third story. Firefighters began evacuating the building and put out the fire within about an hour, Lansdowne Police Sgt. John Eisenhart said.

The seven people taken to the hospital for treatment, including two firefighters, suffered smoke inhalation, he said. The building, which has nearly 100 units, remained closed while the state fire marshal investigates. The American Red Cross provided temporary shelter for those without a place to stay.
