A gun battle early Saturday ended with the death of a driver in West Philadelphia, police said.

Just after 1 a.m., police responded to 5700 Rodman St., where a 53-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to the head, a shoulder, and a leg. The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead about a half-hour later at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Two men were seen fleeing. A .357-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver belonging to the victim was recovered.

Initial reports indicated that the shooting began after the victim, who was driving his car, argued with two men on the street, police said. - Matt Katz
