Man faces murder charges in mother-in-law's death
A Port Richmond man will be tried for murder in the stabbing of his mother-in-law. Steven Estremera, 34, also known as Estevan Gonzalez, was held for trial Tuesday by Municipal Court Judge Patrick F. Dugan on murder, robbery, and related charges in the July 25 killing of Marian Frew, 66, in the home he shared with Frew's daughter in the 3400 block of Weikel Street. Homicide Detective Timothy Scally testified that Estremera initially reported finding Frew's body in the basement and implicated another man. Investigators turned to Estremera after the suspect he identified produced an alibi. Scally said Estremera then confessed to stabbing Frew repeatedly with scissors after they argued. - Joseph A.
