A woman who unwittingly became the getaway driver in a deadly Montgomery County home-invasion robbery in January 2009 has been sentenced to four to eight years in prison.
County Judge Thomas Rogers on Friday imposed the minimum term on Sybil White, 19, of Philadelphia, who pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the death of 58-year-old Robert Chae. Authorities say he suffocated after he was left bound with duct tape in the garage of his Montgomery Township home while robbers forced his wife to open a safe.
The judge also placed a tearful White on 20 years of probation, warning her against any future crime. Prosecutors said she was the "least culpable" of those charged and had cooperated with authorities. White apologized, saying she was "foolish, stupid, naive, and gullible" but took full responsibility. - AP
