Tacony man killed by car on the Boulevard

A 33-year-old Tacony man was struck and killed by a car Tuesday morning on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.

A 33-year-old Tacony man was struck and killed by a car Tuesday morning on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police said Joshua Hess stepped into traffic on the inner northbound lanes near Welsh Road in Bustleton about 5:25 a.m. in a heavy downpour and was hit by a 2004 Buick. The motorist remained at the scene and was not charged, police said.

Hess, of the 6400 block of Edmund Street, was pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale Campus at 6:18 a.m. Police closed the northbound inner lanes of the Boulevard between Woodward and Goodnaw Streets for about two hours for the investigation. - Inquirer staff
