Badges of Honor 5K race raises $20,000
The annual Badges of Honor 5K race has raised $20,000 this year for the Survivors' Fund, money that aids families of fallen police officers, firefighters, and correctional workers.
The annual Badges of Honor 5K race has raised $20,000 this year for the Survivors' Fund, money that aids families of fallen police officers, firefighters, and correctional workers.
Sponsored in part by the city, the race will be held June 4 in Fairmount Park.
The money raised so far was presented to three groups Thursday: $10,000 to Lodge 5 of the Fraternal Order of Police; $5,000 to Local 22 of the International Association of Fire Fighters; and $5,000 to Local 159 of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, which represents city correctional officers. - Marcia Gelbart
