Upper Merion police tasered a man and fired shots early Saturday after that man and three others jumped from a second-floor window of a King of Prussia motel when officers responded to a report of a disturbance.

The man got into a car and crashed it several times into an occupied police vehicle and then into the Motel 6 on West Dekalb Pike about 1:45 a.m., police said, almost hitting another officer standing nearby. That officer fired his service revolver.

The man, in his 20s, was being treated Saturday afternoon at Paoli Hospital for injuries from the car crashes and his leap, police said. He had no gunshot wounds.

Police did not release his name, but they said they expected him to be taken into custody and charged later Saturday. - Marcia Gelbart
