Family members say a woman found dead in the Lehigh River had taken her canoe into the swollen river to rescue her dogs.

Family members say a woman found dead in the Lehigh River had taken her canoe into the swollen river to rescue her dogs.

The Lehigh County Coroner's Office confirmed the body found Sunday was that of Pamela Boyko, 53, of Lehigh Township. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday. Officials say a fisherman discovered the body near the Allentown-Whitehall Township border.

Boyko's family said she took the canoe out into the river Wednesday night to look for her two dogs, which were later found alive. Her canoe was also found. - AP
