Kingpin's sister held without bail in firebombing

The sister of jailed drug kingpin Kaboni Savage was ordered held without bail Thursday pending a detention hearing next week in U.S. District Court.

Kidada Savage, 29, was arrested Wednesday based on a superseding indictment that ties her to the firebombing of a North Philadelphia home in 2004 in which six people, two women and four children, were killed. The victims included the mother and 15-month of son of Eugene Coleman, who has begun cooperating against Kaboni Savage.

Kidada Savage is to be arraigned before a detention hearing Tuesday. Prosecutors have said that they will argue that she should be held without bail, like her brother and two other codefendants in the case.

The superseding indictment charges that Kaboni Savage ordered the firebombing from prison and that his sister set it up and paid another associate of her brother, Lamont Lewis, to carry it out. Lewis pleaded guilty this year and is believed to be cooperating with authorities. The prosecution intends to seek the death penalty in the case, which includes a total of 12 homicides, most linked to witness intimidation, authorities allege. - George Anastasia
