Man struck and killed while walking along Pa. Turnpike

A 24-year-old Philadelphia man was struck and killed early Saturday as he walked along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Fort Washington.

A 24-year-old Philadelphia man was struck and killed early Saturday as he walked along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Fort Washington.

Robert Suplick was walking on the shoulder of the westbound lane of the turnpike in Upper Dublin Township near Mile Marker 339 around 2:54 a.m. when he strayed onto the roadway. He was hit by a car driven by a 22-year-old Philadelphia man, according to a State Police news release Saturday.

Suplick struck the windshield of the 2000 Honda Civic and was thrown more than 11 feet, police said, before the driver pulled to the shoulder.
