Delaware County authorities were holding Maurquis Javon Thompson, 19, of Chester, on $1 million bail Saturday on charges that he killed two 15-year-old Glenolden boys in a hit-and-run accident after he fled from police.
Michael Taylor was killed instantly, police said, while Mark McNeill died of his injuries in Chester-Crozer Medical Center in Upland on Saturday afternoon.
Police said Thompson was driving a speeding car on Chester Pike, leaving Folcroft Borough and entering Glenolden, about 9:35 p.m. Friday.
They said an officer initially pulled over the car, but Thompson raced away again, ran a red light, and struck two pedestrians near the crosswalk.
They said Thompson later fled from the car on foot but was soon captured. Thompson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Glenolden District Court.
