Pedestrian killed by speeding van in E. Germantown

A speeding minivan careered off an East Germantown street and hit a 58-year-old man standing on the sidewalk Sunday night, according to police.

A speeding minivan careered off an East Germantown street and hit a 58-year-old man standing on the sidewalk Sunday night, according to police.

The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Police said a gray Oldmobile Silhouette struck the man at 6:28 p.m. outside 44 E. Price St. The van then flipped over.

The 22-year-old driver and a passenger ran off, police said, but later returned. Police said the two faced possible charges, including driving while intoxicated. - Joseph Tanfani
