Inquiries have come in from across the country from people looking to make donations for or adopt the newborn girl found abandoned Wednesday in North Philadelphia, city officials said Friday.

The Department of Human Services said Friday that the girl, dubbed "Baby Noel," would be placed in a licensed foster home. The agency asked that people interested in adoption or becoming foster parents consider other children who need homes. Some donations for Noel will be given to other children.

Donations of toys or clothes may be made Tuesday through Friday at the agency's office at 1515 Arch St. Anyone interested in adoption may contact the Statewide Adoption Network at 1-800-585-SWAN or www.adoptpakids.org. - Robert Moran
