Man killed in shooting at Cheltenham house

A 25-year-old man who was shot multiple times in a Cheltenham Township home early Christmas Day died less than an hour later.

Officers found the victim about 2 a.m. in a house on the 1400 block of Beech Avenue in the Melrose Park section. He was pronounced dead at Einstein Medical Center at 2:26 a.m. Police said the victim, whose name had not been released, was a visitor at the home.

The shooter is still at large. Police described him as black, armed with a semiautomatic handgun, and wearing an Adidas sweatshirt. He was driving a gray, late-model sedan that was later found in the 6700 block of Old York Road in Philadelphia.
