Weaponry confiscated after standoff at N.J. house

Ten weapons and nearly 1,700 bullets were seized from an Ocean County, N.J., home after a man allegedly made threatening statements on his Facebook page and then barricaded himself inside the residence.

Ten weapons and nearly 1,700 bullets were seized from an Ocean County, N.J., home after a man allegedly made threatening statements on his Facebook page and then barricaded himself inside the residence.

The standoff, which began around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, lasted for several hours as authorities tried to negotiate with the 53-year-old man, whose name was not released. It ended when an Ocean County Regional SWAT team broke down the door of the Barnegat home and captured the man without incident.

The man was taken to a hospital for a psychological evaluation. No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in the standoff, though several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. - AP
