STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The death of a Monroe County man whose body was found in a drainage ditch two days after an accident has been ruled an accidental drowning.

Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen made the determination Monday after an autopsy on the body of Corey Costenbader, 19, of Effort. Costenbader's body was found Sunday submerged in a drainage ditch about 22 feet from where he was knocked down by a car Friday night near Saylorsburg.

Police said he was riding in a vehicle with several friends on Route 33 when the driver stopped. Costenbader got out, was knocked down by a car, and fled, police said.

Officials said it was unclear why he ran or how long the others searched for him. Allen said toxicology test results would not be available for about two months. - AP
