A 30-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when he lost control of his vehicle, which slammed into a utility pole in West Philadelphia, police said.

A 30-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when he lost control of his vehicle, which slammed into a utility pole in West Philadelphia, police said.

The accident happened sho-rtly before 7 a.m. at 63d Street and Woodbine Avenue, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police withheld the victim's name Saturday night pending notification of relatives. - Kevin Smith
