City elections officials on Thursday received the list of the 186,000 Philadelphians who do not have a state Department of Transportation photo ID for voting in November.

City Commissioners Chair Stephanie Singer had originally expected to get the information from the Pennsylvania Department of State in May. Her office is analyzing the data to search for patterns based on race, ethnicity, age, and other characteristics. She plans to share the list with the NAACP, the PA Voter ID Coalition, and other groups so that they can help make sure all voters get the IDs they need to vote Nov. 6 under a new Pennsylvania law.

She said her office would provide the data to anyone who wants it for noncommercial purposes. Requests may be made to 215-686-3460, by e-mail to, or online at - Miriam Hill
