Man on motorcycle killed in Phila. collision

A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a collision with a car Monday afternoon that left two others injured in the city's Holmesburg section, police said.

The motorcyclist - with a female passenger - was trying to avoid a tractor-trailer shortly before 3 p.m. when the cycle collided with the car in the 8300 block of State Road, police said.

The man on the motorcycle, described as in his 20s, was pronounced dead at Aria Health-Torresdale Campus at 4:14 p.m. The woman, 23, was in critical condition. The driver of the car, a 72-year-old woman, was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital with a leg injury. - Robert Moran
