A former top administrator at Truebright Science Academy Charter School will be called to testify during hearings on whether the charter school should be permitted to remain open.

A Common Pleas Court judge issued a subpoena Thursday to compel Susan Farley-Ellison to testify when charter-renewal hearings resume in October.

The North Philadelphia charter school is fighting to stay open after the Philadelphia School Reform Commission did not merit a new operating charter on 18 grounds, including poor academic performance and lack of certified teachers.

The School District had asked the court to issue the subpoena because Farley-Ellison "has knowledge of important facts regarding the grounds for nonrenewal of the charter." - Martha Woodall
