Woman dies in hit-and-run accident

A 52-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday night in West Philadelphia, police said.

The woman was struck at 10:23 p.m. in the 4800 block of Chester Avenue by what witnesses described as a gray Chevrolet Tahoe, police said. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene at 10:35 p.m.

The SUV, which sustained heavy front-end damage, was last seen heading east on Chester Avenue, police said. - Robert Moran
