HARRISBURG - A wanted man from Philadelphia killed himself early Tuesday after a nine-hour standoff at a Harrisburg housing complex in which more than 100 shots were fired, authorities said.

Officers were trying to serve a warrant on Abel Roman, 24, in the Hall Manor complex when he reportedly fired a shot and threatened suicide, authorities said. Gunfire periodically rang out over the ensuing hours, and one police officer was wounded, authorities said.

Roman, whose last known address was in the Hunting Park neighborhood, was found dead in an apartment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said. He had been sought on aggravated-assault charges dating to July 2011. - AP
