Woman dies trying to rescue pet in Bucks fire
Three people, including a firefighter, were injured in the raging blaze in Bensalem.
A 39-year-old woman was killed Wednesday when she returned to a burning house in Bensalem to rescue a pet dog, officials said.
Three other people, including a firefighter, were injured in the house blaze on the 2700 block of June Avenue.
The raging fire was reported about 6:15 a.m. and declared under control about an hour later.
Police identified the woman as Tabetha Oakes Rutecki. Officials said she initially escaped the blaze but returned to the house to get the dog.
Two other people who were inside the home were taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital for treatment, Bensalem police said. Information on their conditions was not available. A firefighter suffered a minor injury, police said.
Video from television news helicopters showed flames coming out of the roof. Two cars in the driveway also caught fire.
An oxygen tank inside the house also exploded during the blaze, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
