Fire forces evacuation at Newtown Square nursing home

A fire forced the evacuation of nursing-home residents Friday night in Delaware County, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was reported at 9:21 p.m. at Dunwoody Village at 3500 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square, said a county dispatcher. The fire was declared under control about a half-hour later.

There was no immediate word on when the residents would be allowed to return.

The Dunwoody Village website describes the facility as a nonprofit continuing care retirement community.
