Philadelphia are investigating the death of a motorcycle driver in a crash Wednesday night on Kelly Drive.

According to police, George James, 43, of the 6400 block of Ross Street in East Mount Airy, was heading north on Kelly Drive about 9 p.m. when his 2005 Suzuki collided at Brewery Hill Drive with a 2014 BMW driven by a 47-year-old woman.

The BMW driver, who was not immediately identified, was southbound on Kelly and making a left turn when her car collided with the motorcycle, police said.

James was thrown from his bike and landed on the grassy median, police said. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:38 p.m. Police said the BMW driver remained at the scene for police. No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
