New voter-ID rules unveiled

VOTERS WHOSE Pennsylvania driver's licenses or state-issued ID cards expired more than a year ago can now use them to qualify for free photo-ID cards if they lack other forms of identification, officials said Wednesday.

VOTERS WHOSE Pennsylvania driver's licenses or state-issued ID cards expired more than a year ago can now use them to qualify for free photo-ID cards if they lack other forms of identification, officials said Wednesday.

In most cases, outdated licenses and cards will be accepted as adequate documentation for new non-driver photo-ID cards.

"You don't even need to produce your expired license," as long as names, photos and other details are in PennDOT's computers, Secretary of State Carol Aichele said of the policy change designed mainly to help seniors.
