McHugh, McGuffin nominated for judge

DOYLESTOWN Gov. Wolf nominated two men Wednesday as potential judges to serve on Bucks County Court: County Controller Ray McHugh and Langhorne-based lawyer Brian McGuffin.

McHugh was nominated to replace Judge Clyde W. Waite, and McGuffin to replace Judge Susan D. Scott, according to a list of nominations posted on the state Senate's website Wednesday.

Both Waite and Scott retired at the end of 2014, McHugh said.

McHugh and McGuffin will need to be approved by a two-thirds vote in the Senate before assuming a place on the bench.

If McHugh is confirmed, he said, Wolf will have to appoint a new controller, who will subsequently need to be approved by the Senate.

During his time as a row officer, McHugh has maintained his private criminal defense practice.

McGuffin was previously an assistant public defender before entering private practice, his website said. - Chris Palmer
