Pa. state Rep. Hackett to resign

State Rep. Joe Hackett (R., Delaware) is resigning from his seat in the Pennsylvania legislature, according to a statement released by his office Thursday night.

State Rep. Joe Hackett (R., Delaware) is resigning from his seat in the Pennsylvania legislature, according to a statement released by his office Thursday night.

Hackett is exploring plans to return to the District Attorney's Criminal Investigation Division, according to the statement.

"Coming from a family of blue bloods - my grandfather, wife, father-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and three nephews - I've realized law enforcement is not just a career, It's a calling," Hackett said in the statement.

Hackett previously served 26 years in law enforcement, including 20 years with the Ridley Township Police Department.

His resignation will be effective April 30.
