DOYLESTOWN Commissioners are to hold a public meeting Wednesday evening on the county's proposed $495.4 million 2016 budget that calls for keeping the tax rate right where it is.
The current millage, 23.2, equates to about $260 for every $100,000 of market value. Real estate taxes account for roughly 30 percent of projected revenues.
The biggest chunk of the budget, $228.9 million, or almost half, would go toward the county's Health and Human Services Division. Public safety expenditures would account for $144.4 million, or 29 percent.
Wednesday's meeting, at which the public is invited to comment, is to start at 6 p.m. in the Bucks County Administration Building Community Room, on the first floor at 55 E. Court St.
The budget is scheduled for adoption at the commissioners meeting on Dec. 16 at the Bucks County Conference and Visitors Bureau, in Bensalem Township.
