Special election set to replace Rep. Scott Petri

Scott Petri, a Republican from Bucks County, left the state House to head the Philadelphia Parking Authority.

HARRISBURG — Voters will select a replacement in May for former Rep. Scott Petri, who left the House to become executive director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority.

Petri, a Republican from Bucks County, had served in the House since 2003, representing the 178th Legislative District, which includes Northampton, Solebury, and other nearby areas.

The election to replace Petri will be held May 15, the same day as the primary election, House Speaker Mike Turzai (R., Allegheny) announced Monday.  The winner of that special election will fill the seat until the term ends Nov. 30.

A special election also will be held that day to replace Democratic state Rep. Brandon Neuman, of Washington County, who left to become a Common Pleas Court judge.
