Council OKs 2035 Delaware County plan

MEDIA - The Delaware County Council has approved the planning department's comprehensive plan, which aims to help the county's 49 municipalities set development goals and policies for the next two decades.

Though the Delaware County 2035 plan is a framework and not regulatory, county officials said, it articulates critical policies.

State law requires counties to work up such plans for municipalities to use as guidelines in formulating their own plans and land-use regulations.

Developable land in the county, one of the state's most densely populated, with 560,000 residents, is relatively scarce.

A copy of the plan, approved late last month, is available at http://www.co.delaware.pa.us/planning/countyregionalplanning/DelawareCounty2035.pdf.
