, was killed Thursday in an automobile accident in Hollis, N.H. He was riding in a car that crashed into a tree and overturned, police said.
Mr. Nathan, who lived in Nashua, N.H., was a third-year acting student at the Juilliard School in New York, friends said. He was home on Christmas break.
He was 13 when selected for the 1999 revival of Zoom, a public-television show made by WGBH-TV in Boston that debuted in the 1970s. He appeared for one season, and would have been invited back had he not reached adolescence, executive producer Kate Taylor said.
Although the show sought children with a "kid next door" demeanor, it quickly became clear that Mr. Nathan was a very talented actor, Taylor said.
Zoom featured a cast of seven children ages 9 to 14 who did various activities - science experiments, musical performances, story reading - mostly based on suggestions sent in by viewers.
The show, aimed at children ages 6 to 12, is being phased out. The last new episodes were filmed for the 2005 season, but some PBS affiliates still show Zoom. - AP
