Sherman H. "Bud" Siegel, 78, of King of Prussia, a retired General Electric engineer, died of brain cancer Dec. 10 at Bryn Mawr Terrace.

For most of his 37-year career with General Electric, Mr. Siegel worked in the company's aerospace division in Valley Forge and helped develop the Nimbus, Landsat, and URAS satellite systems. He retired in 1991.

A native of Newark, N.J., Mr. Siegel interrupted his college studies after World War II to serve in the Army in occupied Japan. The experience made him a pacifist, said his wife, Barbara King Siegel, and he later spent a year on post-war construction projects in Europe with the American Friends Service Committee. Mr. Siegel earned a bachelor's degree from Newark College of Engineering - now New Jersey Institute of Technology - and earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from Syracuse University while at General Electric. He enjoyed bridge, reading, and travel abroad.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by daughters Sandra Rabena and Karen Moresco; a son, Mark; a brother; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Main Line Unitarian Church, 816 S. Valley Forge Rd., Devon.
