Patricia A. Fenn, 70, of Gladwyne, a rheumatologist at Bryn Mawr Hospital for 37 years, died of pancreatic cancer at the hospital Jan. 24.
Patricia A. Fenn, 70, of Gladwyne, a rheumatologist at Bryn Mawr Hospital for 37 years, died of pancreatic cancer at the hospital Jan. 24.
Dr. Fenn joined the Bryn Mawr Hospital staff in 1969. She was chief of the rheumatology service from 1985 to 1992 and was medical director of the Arthritis and Orthopedic Center at the hospital from 1989 to 1995. She shared a group practice with Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists.
Dr. Fenn helped create the "Center of Excellence" education program for staff and patients at Bryn Mawr Hospital and helped establish the 32-bed arthritis and rheumatology unit there. She retired last year.
A native of Bellows Falls, Vt., she earned a bachelor's degree in zoology and a medical degree from the University of Vermont. She interned at Bryn Mawr Hospital and completed a residency in rheumatology at Temple University Hospital on a National Institutes of Health fellowship.
Dr. Fenn enjoyed reading, tennis, and travel abroad, especially to Ireland.
She is survived by her companion of 24 years, Susan W. Kidder; four nephews; and a niece.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Ave., Bryn Mawr.
