Marianne Fredriksson, 79, one of Sweden's most admired and translated writers, died Sunday after a heart attack at her home in Osterskar, northeast of Stockholm, her agent said.
After working as a newspaper journalist for decades, Ms. Fredriksson wrote her first novel, The Book of Eve, in 1980.
She wrote 16 more books, including According to Mary Magdalene, Simon's Family and Hanna's Daughters, and became one of the most popular writers in her homeland. - AP
