Margaret Mitchell "Mitch" Estey, 88, formerly of Swarthmore, a community volunteer, died April 14 of Alzheimer's disease at White Horse Village in Newtown Square.

For several years, until 1981, Mrs. Estey worked in public relations for the March of Dimes in Media. She was active with Resources for Women at the University of Pennsylvania, counseling women reentering the workforce after raising a family. Her husband, Marten Estey, is a retired Wharton School professor.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Mrs. Estey and her husband were volunteer community-disputes mediators for the Delaware County Court System.

A native of Huntington, Ind., she earned a bachelor's degree from Purdue University, where she met her future husband. In the 1940s, she was secretary to the editor of Reader's Digest in Washington.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, Mrs Estey is survived by a son, Jay; a daughter, Patricia Wilson; and two grandsons.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, 727 Harvard Ave., Swarthmore.
