Gerald J. McNamara, 58, formerly of Aldan, an entrepreneur and store manager, died of cardiac arrest April 25 at home.

Mr. McNamara grew up in Southwest Philadelphia and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys. He earned an engineering degree at night from Widener University while working at Clifton Precision Products in Clifton Heights, where he met his future wife, Susan Bradley. He later owned and operated Aldan Precision Products, a manufacturer's representative.
Since moving to Margate three years ago, Mr. McNamara had been store manager for MAB Paints in Atlantic City. He was a veteran of the Army Reserve.
While his children were growing up, he coached youth soccer and softball for the Aldan Girls Club and in 1985, his wife said, he became the club's first male president.
He enjoyed fishing, golf and traveling.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Mr. McNamara is survived by a son, Sean; daughters Erin and Blair; and two brothers.
A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Main Street and MacDade Boulevard, Darby. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
