The Rev. Leon E. Jaworowski, a parochial vicar and parish priest at several churches in the Philadelphia area, died of heart failure Aug. 7. He was 90.
The Rev. Leon E. Jaworowski, a parochial vicar and parish priest at several churches in the Philadelphia area, died of heart failure Aug. 7. He was 90.
Father Jaworowski was born in Minersville, Pa., to John Jaworowski and Mary Zupkiewicz. He attended St. Patrick High School in Pottsville before entering St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.
He was ordained on May 29, 1943, by Cardinal Dennis Dougherty at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul.
He served as parochial vicar at St. Anthony Padua Parish, Cumbola, Pa.; St. Isidore, Quakertown; St. Mary, Reading; St. Mary, Conshohocken; and in Philadelphia, St. Laurentius, St. Mary of Czestochowa and St. Josaphat.
He was pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Swedesburg, from 1970 to 1975. He served as chaplain at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia until he retired in 1983.
He is survived by a sister, Eleanor Brennan.
Services were Friday. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon. *
