Arthur Jones, 80, whose invention of Nautilus exercise equipment offered a more-targeted approach to strength training and changed the idea of a workout, died Tuesday at his home in Ocala, Fla.
Nautilus came along in 1970 and soon became ubiquitous; Ronald Reagan was said to use the equipment in the White House when he was recovering from his 1981 gunshot wound.
Mr. Jones was particularly proud of his latest invention, an exercise machine used for rehabilitation by people with spinal injuries and back pain, his son William said. - AP
