Roslyn Greenberg, 85, a dedicated homemaker who had a talent for building self-esteem in those she loved, died of stomach cancer Thursday at the Blue Bell Place assisted living facility, where she had been for 10 months. She was a longtime resident of Oxford Circle.

Raised in North Philadelphia as the daughter of Russian immigrants, Roslyn Newland graduated from Kensington High School in 1940.
In 1943, she married Jack Greenberg. "Her life revolved around taking care of her family," said daughter Annette Swartz. "She spent most of her day preparing dinner and took pride in her children."
Mrs. Greenberg enjoyed shopping and going to Atlantic City with her best friend, Marjorie Needleman.
In the late 1970s, Mrs. Greenberg worked for a few years at the Naval Supply Depot in the Northeast. She then worked at the Census Bureau in Philadelphia until the early 1980s. Her husband died in 1995.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Greenberg is survived by son Mel, an Inquirer sportswriter, and two granddaughters and a sister.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Joseph Levine & Sons, 4737 Street Rd., Trevose. Burial will be in Shalom Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley. Shiva will be observed from tomorrow through Tuesday.
