William B. McClain Jr., loved to travel
William B. McClain Jr. was a world traveler. The only problem was he was just a child and his family isn't sure he remembered much of it.
William B. McClain Jr. was a world traveler. The only problem was he was just a child and his family isn't sure he remembered much of it.
But his father was in the Army and the family got to see Paris and Germany and other European sites.
In later years, William's travels were pretty much confined to short trips on the Eastern Seaboard.
William, a machinist who enjoyed working on cars, working around the house and following the local sports teams, died Wednesday of a heart condition. He was 51 and lived in Levittown.
He was born in Washington, D.C., to William B. McClain Sr. and Josephine McClain. The family moved to Philadelphia and he graduated in 1974 from John Bartram High School.
"He was quiet," said his sister, Princess Rippey. "He pretty much kept to himself."
He married the former Patricia Mapp in 1975. Besides his wife and sister, he also is survived by three daughters, Lakisha Stephenson, Lisa McClain and Amber McClain; a son, Justin McClain, and five grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Francis Funeral Home, 5201 Whitby Ave. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery, Lansdowne. *
