Anna 'Nancy' Rulon | Volunteer, 95
Anna "Nancy" Rogers Rulon, 95, formerly of Wyndmoor, died Saturday at Meadowood, a retirement community in Worcester, where she was an enthusiastic volunteer.
Mrs. Rulon grew up in Mount Airy. After graduating from Germantown High School, she worked at the C.A. Rowell Department Store in Germantown. In 1933, she married Edgar F. Rulon. They raised a family in Mount Airy and Wyndmoor.
She was a volunteer at William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, where her sons were students, and for more than 20 years she was a volunteer in the Chestnut Hill Hospital gift shop.
In 1989, she and her husband moved to Meadowood. He died three years later. At Meadowood, Mrs. Rulon helped organize the book and film clubs and was a spokeswoman for the residents. She took a genuine interest in people, her children said.
She was a passionate bridge and Scrabble player, they said, and was vital and engaged to the very end.
Mrs. Rulon is survived by sons David and Richard; a daughter, Marcia Hubbell; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at Meadowood, 3205 Skippack Pike, Worcester.
