William V. Rocchi | Insurance salesman, 46

William V. Rocchi, 46, of Plymouth Township, an insurance sales representative, died of colon cancer Thursday at Abington Memorial Hospital.

For more than 10 years, Mr. Rocchi had been a sales representative for John Hancock Life Insurance Co. Although he struggled with cancer for two years, he worked until two weeks ago and exceeded his sales quota for the year, his wife, Aurella Gibson Rocchi, said. He previously had worked for General American Life Insurance Co.

Mr. Rocchi graduated from Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, where he played baseball and football, and earned a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University. He was a Nittany Lions football fan, his wife said, and was proud that his daughter, Jenna, was a student at Penn State.

Mr. Rocchi coached boys' and girls' basketball, softball and baseball for Catholic Youth Organization programs in Whitemarsh Township, Plymouth Township and Conshohocken.

In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by sons William and Michael, and two sisters.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Philip Neri Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill. Friends may call at Lownes Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. tomorrow. Entombment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting.
