John K. Fitzpatrick Jr. | Company president, 45

John K. Fitzpatrick Jr., 45, of West Chester, a company president and a baseball enthusiast, died of colon cancer Jan. 11 at his home.

Since September, Mr. Fitzpatrick had headed Sapphire Analytics in Philadelphia, a software technology company and a subsidiary of Paris Technologies in Doylestown. He had been an executive for the Bank of New York in Wilmington and New York.

Mr. Fitzpatrick grew up in North Jersey and was captain of his high school baseball team. He earned a bachelor's degree from Villanova University, where he met his future wife, Wendy Cummins. While working in New York, he earned an master's degree in business administration from Fordham University.

He played on church and corporate softball teams, his wife said, and was a volunteer with the East Side Little League in West Chester. He enjoyed running the concession stand, she said. He also coached daughter Kelsey's softball team.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Mr. Fitzpatrick is survived by sons Ryan, Tyler and Kyle; father John Sr.; mother and stepfather, Patricia and Charles Stuhmer; a sister; and a grandfather.

A memorial Mass will be said at 11 a.m. today at St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Rd., Paoli. A reception for friends will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Christ Community Church, 1190 Phoenixville Pike, followed by a service at 1:30.
