Hal Riney | Created Reagan ads, 75

Hal Riney, 75, the advertising executive who created the iconic "It's Morning Again in America" ads for Ronald Reagan's reelection campaign, has died.

He died Monday of cancer at his San Francisco home, according to Michelle Musburger, spokeswoman for his former ad agency, Publicis & Hal Riney.

In an ad career spanning nearly 50 years, he helped raise San Francisco's profile as a creative hub in a New York-dominated industry.

In 1984, Mr. Riney wrote "It's Morning Again in America," a series of TV commercials touting the nation's progress under Reagan.
